Lancaster City Restaurant Week is a bi-annual celebration of the rich culinary diversity available in the City of Lancaster. This season Visit Lancaster City’s Marketing & Communications Manager, Wyatt Behringer, decided to take advantage of the special values offered during the week to dine around the City, visit some favorite spots and discover some new ones too!
Fifth Stop: Bakehouse on King! My visit to Bakehouse on King was a spontaneous addition to my Lancaster City Restaurant Week plans. I simply could not resist the extraordinary value of their #LCRW2019 Special. The boutique bakery is one of the newest culinary stars in the City of Lancaster. Located just across the street from the Visitor Center at 16-18 W. King Street. Bakehouse On King seeks to meet the need for high quality, artisan baked goods and pastries in the City of Lancaster. Whether it’s for retail or wholesale, Executive Pastry Chef Kristen Richards and their dedicated staff focus on producing traditional bakery items that appeal to today’s tastes. They prize traditions such as seasonal ingredients, natural leavening and slow fermentation in the creation of quality whole grain breads and pastries.
On Friday morning of Lancaster City Restaurant Week, I realized that there was a way to bring the event back to the entire team here at Visit Lancaster City once I read the details of the Bakehouse on King #LCRW2019 Special. They were offering a “Bakers Box” of four of their delicious pastries, plus one hot, or iced coffee, for just $10! So off I went across King Street. I happened to get there early so there was a wide selection to choose from. I left with a beautiful Bakers Box that included: espresso crumb cake, lemon poppyseed muffin, cinnamon bun, and cookies (chocolate chip and lemon sugar).
I did mention that the special came with a choice of beverage and I am always sorely in need of some caffeine to launch my day, so I was happy to walk back sipping a yummy Iced Coffee!
This Lancaster City Restaurant Week Special made for a lovely feast for all to share in our office back at the Visitor Center and a fine way to begin a Friday morning.
We were all happy to learn through social media later that day that our neighbors at Bakehouse On King had such a busy Friday that the shelves were almost bare by the afternoon. So happy to hear that this sweet special was spreading around Downtown Lancaster!
