Quick Feature: Nahual Maya Restaurant

It’s Fall 2024 Lancaster City Restaurant Week Monday, Sept. 9 – Sunday, Sept. 15!

It’s important to support our local culinary community and we’re excited to feature over 40 great restaurants in the City of Lancaster with a variety of specials.

I couldn’t wait to try Nahual Maya Restaurant, one of the newest participants in the week (and newly-opened spot in Lancaster City!), ever since I saw the brightly-decorated window that’s both vibrant and inviting!

Nahual Maya is a Central American restaurant serving authentic food from Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador.

Guests can enjoy pupusas, handmade tortillas, steaks, daily pressed juices, mango crepes, horchata chapina and more! It’s a great authentic Central American experience right in the heart of the City of Lancaster.

For Lancaster City Restaurant Week, Nahual Maya is offering their delicious Pupusas Revueltas, with a fresh mango or watermelon juice, for $17!

Pupusas Revueltas are corn tortillas filled with chicharron/pork, cheese, and beans, all melted in a sizzling display of flavor. It’s served with fermented cabbage salad, or better known as ‘Curtido’, and fresh-made tomato-based sauce.

The dish is originally from El Salvador and is definitely a must-try!

The flavor of each Pupusa was incredible and matched well with the Curtido. Plus the sauce was an added element of flavor to the already-rich meal.

The restaurant week deal also comes with freshly-squeezed juice—and I chose mango! It was refreshing and authentic—the perfect beverage to pair with the dish.

The atmosphere of Nahual Maya was vibrant and cozy, with bright colors, paintings, decor, and signage (much of it inspired by various places in Central America where the cuisine comes from) all around the space.

For a unique experience definitely stop by this newly-opened soon-to-be favorite adding even more diversity to the culinary community in the City of Lancaster! I am grateful this spot is here and can’t wait to try it again soon.

Hours for Nahual Maya Restaurant are Wednesday-Saturday Noon-8pm and Sunday Noon-5pm. It’s located at 126 N Prince St, Lancaster, PA.
