Visit Lancaster City Dines Around: Amorette

Lancaster City Restaurant Week is a bi-annual celebration of the rich culinary diversity available in the City of Lancaster. This season Visit Lancaster City’s Marketing & Communications Manager, Wyatt Behringer, decided to take advantage of the special values offered during the week to dine around the City, visit some favorite spots and discover some new ones too!

Second Stop: Amorette! One of the many benefits of Lancaster City Restaurant Week is being able to take advantage of bargains that will allow you to try restaurants that you might have thought were beyond your budget. When I saw that Amorette was participating in the Spring season of #LCRW2019 I knew it had to be on my list of places to visit.

You are given a warm welcome the moment you walk through the doors. A hostess checked our coats and guided us to our table, one wait staff member came to help us with a choice of beverage and another arrived offering warm, fresh-baked bread and the most delicious rounds of sea-salt crusted butter set on tiny pedestals. We could only sit back in our seats with a sigh of contentment as we began to look over the Restaurant Week Prix Fixe Menu of Three Courses for $30 Dollars.

I was fortunate to share another Restaurant Week adventure with my foodie friend Anja and we tried to make choices that would show a nice variety from this excellent menu. For the first course, Anja selected the Beef Carpaccio – Local Wagyu, Hazelnut Aioli, Fig Jam, Egg Yolk. The Wagyu beef was excellent, onion paper thin and melted in your mouth (naturally we shared) and the sweetness of the fig was a nice finish. I choose the Composed Local Kale – Poached Pear, Roasted Squash, Roquefort Foam, Walnut Crunch and never had a salad that tasted so good!

We were eager to sample the second course and it did not disappoint. The server laid my dish of Black Truffle Risotto in front of me and I knew from the generous shavings of dark truffle on top that I was about to enjoy a very special weekday lunch. My friend’s order of the Fish du Jour was a generous portion of Salmon that she described as sensational!

The only part of the menu that we could not take separate paths on was the third course – desserts. Amorette is famous for their remarkable pastry creations by Executive Pastry Chef Renaud Besnard. We both had our hearts set on his Le Citron -Lemon Meringue, Soft Pineapple Marmalade, Banana-Passion Fruit Sorbet. It was, exactly as I had been told, a true work of art, and an incredible combination of intense flavors that was the perfect ending to such a memorable meal.
