The week-long culinary celebration wouldn’t be possible without our amazing group of sponsors.
One of our sponsors, the Lancaster City Alliance, works hard to cultivate partnerships with businesses, local communities, the arts, education, non-profits, and government to ensure Lancaster is a clean, safe, and vibrant City for all.
We are grateful for their support of Lancaster City Restaurant Week!
Check out the below Q&A with Anne Williams, Director of Communications at the Lancaster City Alliance, and learn more about their incredible organization.
You are recently celebrating an LCA 10-year anniversary – that’s pretty cool considering Lancaster City Restaurant Week is also celebrating that milestone! Can you share a bit about LCA’s story and the important work the nonprofit implements?
Sure! Lancaster City Alliance was formed by community leaders whose vision was for Lancaster City to be a great place for everyone to live, to do business, to work, and to visit. Soon after, Mayor Rick Gray asked the organization to manage the City’s economic development plan.
We gladly accepted that challenge and now work with partners across the City to implement the 15-year plan. We also manage the Downtown Investment District Ambassadors, Clean Team, and Street Outreach Specialist. These individuals patrol our downtown business district, assist individuals and businesses, keep the downtown clean and support members of our community who are unhoused.
The Lancaster City Alliance team also loves supporting our merchant community, we host merchant meetings and mixers, serve on the Cultivate Entrepreneurship Coalition, manage a small business grant and loan program, and work closely with the City of Lancaster to promote our City’s wonderful merchant community.
What is it about Lancaster City Restaurant Week that is special to you and the LCA team?
This City has a world class food scene. The variety of cultures and cuisines you can try in our City is unmatched and it should be celebrated. Restaurant Week provides the opportunity to highlight our food scene and the Lancaster City Alliance team is always proud to take part.
There are so many great participating restaurants. Are there any that you are excited to try for the first time?
I love to support this City and I’m proud to say that I have tried almost all of the participating restaurants, but one of the newest on the list, is Nahual Mayan Restaurant. I had the opportunity to sample their pupusas and I was hooked, so I’m ready to go back for more.
LCA invests a lot into small businesses in the City of Lancaster. Why is it important to invest in local businesses, and, specifically, the restaurants in Lancaster City?
There are so many reasons, but specifically for local restaurants, the food is better and the ingredients are fresher. In fact, for many of our local restaurants, they get their food right here in Lancaster County. Local farmers markets serve as inspiration for their menus. So often, when you support a small, local business, the money you spend stays in our community, and the positive ripple effect of that cannot be understated.
What do you hope visitors, guests, and customers take away from Lancaster City Restaurant Week?
I hope they are as wowed as I am by the amazing restaurants in this City and in turn, stay committed to the importance of dining (and shopping!) locally.
