Tony Gorick, Sales & Events Manager at Decades and Lancaster City Restaurant Week Marketing Specialist, and Cara Walker, Managing Editor at Fig Industries, stopped by Amanita Café at 401 W Walnut Street to check out this spot (it’s their first time participating in Lancaster City Restaurant Week)!

“Amanita’s colorful storefront and corner spot make it such a vibrant neighborhood café on the west side,” said Cara. “You can feel their laidback, farm-to-table approach as soon as you walk in, and we were lucky enough to snag the table by the window for some spring sunshine while we ate. We paired the Restaurant Week special—a smoked salmon and poached egg tartine—with a Belgian waffle for a delicious, sweet-and-savory brunch. It definitely hit the spot as a kickoff to an exciting week of indulging in the Lancaster food scene.”

The beautiful, colorful front of the cafe!

Their Lancaster City Restaurant special is a $12 -Smoked Salmon and Poached Egg Tartine – Front Porch Bakery Sourdough topped with organic cream cheese, capers, onions, smoked salmon, and a free-range poached egg. Served with organic greens.

Tony agreed with Cara’s sentiment—the warmth of the café transcended into the eclectic array of curated flavors.

“The texture combination with the capers, sprouts, and poached eggs made for a delicious, refreshing brunch experience,” said Tony. ”Plus the sourdough bread was fantastic. Being inside the café feels like a small escape to a warm, comforting local full of whimsy and color.”

The atmosphere is a fantastical array of mushroom iconography and murals. With indoor and outdoor seating Amanita Café is perfect for the warming weather and Spring sunshine.

Cara and Tony greatly enjoyed the experience and can’t wait to return! The two foodies had a great time experiencing one of the great spots in Lancaster City.
